North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is located in downtown Raleigh, and is really one of the best museums in town. Admission is free.

Consisting of 4 floors, the building is stroller friendly.

Most of the exhibits are low enough that small children can easily view and safely enjoy the exhibits. The very large prehistoric dinosaurs are very popular, and can be seen from outside the building through the glass up high. The live insect and fish aquariums are interesting. Don't miss the live butterfly exhibit!!

The auditorium on the first floor shows many free films throughout the day. Additional activities covering the various exhibits happen often as well. Stop by the front desk on your way in for a schedule.

A cafe is located on the 4th floor with affordabe food. There's nothing on the menu over $5, and they have a pretty good variety and ample seating.

Highly recommended.
