NC Museum of Art
The North Carolina Museum of Art houses an impressive collection spanning more than 5000 years. An ancient Egyption coffin, Greek and Roman sculptures and vases are some of the older works. Other collections include Ancient Americas, African, American, European, the 20th Century, Judaic and Oceanic. Important works by artists such as Giotto, Raphael, Anthony van Dyck, Sandro Botticelli, Claude Monet and Antonio Canova are internationally celebrated. These collections are considered part of the "Permanent Collection", and are always free. Special exhibitions, and some programs do carry a charge.
Free Guided walking tours are given Tuesday through Sunday at 1:30pm.
Group visits can be arranged by calling ahead for reservations.
A nice restaurant is located on the lower level. A gift shop is also located in the building. Ample, free parking too.
